Ceramics For Sale
At last! I put my ceramics in my shop. It only took, y'know, six months or so. But I finally have enough of them that I like, and feel like I'm going to be able to make more that I like - so it seemed like the right time. Check it out here!

Datter in DPI Magazine
This was pretty exciting. I was asked to do an interview for DPI, a Taiwanese magazine. They've featured a ton of artists that I love, so it was great to be included. And boy, were they speedy - only a couple weeks from my answering the questions, to the magazine coming through my mailbox. Cutting social security
A super-quick-turnaround drawing for the NYTimes letters page yesterday. Letters responding to an article about proposed cuts to social security. Rather timely given that yesterday a barrage of benefit cuts came into place in the UK, heralding the apocalypse we've all been waiting for.*
In print the drawing is teeny-wee, but you can read the letters and see the drawing (again) online here.
*Those cuts, combined with the whole goodbye-gulf-stream-hello-eternal-winter situation, mean it might be time to up sticks to Cali. For the entire population of the UK. Get ready, In-N-Out!

Maize maze
Since Spring is nearly here, it's time for a post about Autumn. Back in October, I was in NYC, and some friends and I drove upstate to a farm for FALL MADNESS. It was as it promised: mad. I fired a corn cannon, a pumpkin slingshot, watched a pig race, and saw kids playing in a giant shed filled with 3 feet of dried corn kernels. Apple cider and ornamental gourds were also involved. It was all deeply American (except for the pig race, which I've seen in the UK too), not least the landscape. Look at this place. These are photos from the Maize Maze and the Pumpkin Patch. Alliteration is a big deal in fall.
Strange seeing these after 5 months of grim, grey UK days. I can't believe I've ever seen skies this blue.
I thought I might've just posted the arty shots above but no, fuck it, if you're anything like me you also wanna see the pig race and the bizarre gourd pile and the angel deer straight from a heaven whose nose I touched and it was soft. See below.

New York Stories returns! I only had to take, like, eight months off to get back into the project. I kept a huge list of things-that-happened-in-NYC while I was there, and now I've been away for a while, the urge to record them is kicking back in. New York, you are a good time.

Mum's studio
It's mother's day, which seems a good time to post these photographs. I took them at my mum's open studio a few months ago. She's a painter, with an incredible eye for pattern and colour - not to mention, y'know, an amazing mum and general badass powerful woman. So this is a tiny tribute to her and her work. Here you go. Thanks for everything, mamma.
You can see more of her work on her website, chloefremantle.com. When I look at it I actually can't believe how prolific she is. Somebody give this woman a contract to design all the textiles, art, and wallpaper for a palace somewhere.

Boot bud vase
I'm figuring out ceramics little more each time, getting them to look more how I want. Wax resist on these laces so the raw clay shows through. This is kind of a companion to the twig boot.

Armour
Well, since last we met, dear Blog, I have moved house and moved studio and generally gone a bit mad with moving. It's not conducive to making work when all your stuff is in boxes. I've just been making the things I needed to make to get along, and then spending the rest of my time thinking about light fittings and doormats and absurd brain-wasters like that.

More heads
More heads out of the kiln! Better results this time. No melted faces. Some are candle holders and some are little bowls. Hooray.
