We stayed with Adam in Southern Oregon. He has a great little cat called Scout. The floppiest, friendliest kitten I've ever encountered. Til we meet again, Scout.

Chiswick Eyot

The expedition that ruined the shoes. I have wanted to get onto this island for years, but the tide is always too high, and it's always too intimidating to climb through private back gardens to get to the ladder down to the Thames beach. But we done it now. Brave explorers.

...and then I ruined the shoes

...and then I ruined the shoes

Went walking on muddy Thames beaches, used muddy stepping stones to cross the Thames to an island made entirely of mud, climbed around on muddy island, got intimately acquainted with mud. Mud mud mud. Damn.

painted shoes

painted shoes

I painted a pair of shoes yesterday. They were a great success, I got asked on a hot date by a guy in a chicken shop, and got given a free pepsi. All based on the shoes.

cat encounters

I've added a lot of new cats to my Cat Encounters collection. I try to photograph every cat I see on my mobile phone. It gets in the way of walks sometimes but on the whole it's an enjoyable project. Here's a selection of the new guys:

Having a bunch of cats around is good. If you're feeling bad, you just look at the cats, you'll feel better, because they know that everything is, just as it is. There's nothing to get excited about. They just know. They're saviors. The more cats you have, the longer you live. If you have a hundred cats, you'll live ten times longer than if you have ten. Someday this will be discovered, and people will have a thousand cats and live forever.
